Features & Extras
Imatchup is your standard dating site. Some unique facets include the ability to rate people's appearance by their photos, and then to search only the top-rated photos, plus video chat. So this site is well-suited to those among us who are really appearance-oriented.

In filling out my profile, I noticed that there was no Pagan option in "religion," just “other.” I love that they have “celebrity” as an occupation option. You can list your most-used IM program and username in your profile, and include your cellphone number for text messaging.

Folks can search by sex, age, local area, new, photo-only, and type of relationship desired. You can also browse by gender and sexual orientation, and then U.S. state, Canadian province, or U.S. Commonwealths.

You can do a fair amount with a basic (free) membership here: send and answer emails (but there's a limit, which they don't specify), use the chatroom, and read success stories, tips and hints. You can rate others' photos, but they don’t blow up full-size, which makes it rather difficult.

Gold members can search according to various extra criteria, including photo rating, eye/hair color, religion, and more. Gold members' profiles come before basic members in search results. They can view all photos as full-sized, utilize the astrological compatibility feature, and participate in video chat.

To cancel your membership, you have to send them an email. There's no form on the site, like there is on most other sites.

I inteviewed S.K., a hetero 42-year-old man in WI. He's been a member for about a year and a half. He says, "I joined to find someone to date, and be friends, and see where it goes. I have made some friends, but that’s it." I asked him why he stuck around so long when the pickins were so slim, and he said, "I stay to talk to the friends I've made." What does he think is wrong with the site? "There are too many here just to play games, and the site lets women chat for free while the men have to pay." Being female, I'm not sure about that one; can anyone confirm what he says? I asked if there was anything good he could say about the site, and he responded that it was easy to use.

Well, I decided to see if I could find a more enthusiastic member to interview, and lo and behold, I did. K.H., a 30-year-old hetero woman in CA, gave the site five stars in all three categories. She's been a member for about eight months, and only three months into her membership, she met her fiance. She still uses the site for the chatroom to connect with the friends she's made. She particularly likes "the way we can just send flirts and messages without others seeing them."
