This is one of those "scientific" dating sites. They have you answer a whole bunch of multiple-choice questions, determine your personality type, and then set about fixing you up with the "perfect match." The site's main yenta is Dr. Pepper Schwartz, a professor of sociology, and they're in cahoots with the Lifetime TV network ("television for women"). If I seem a bit skeptical, I am. I don't like sites with such a smug attitude. Also, I have a friend who's a professor of sociology (Hi, Laura!), and that doesn't make her a relationship expert.
For free, you can take the personality test (takes about 20 mins if you don't think about it too hard) and receive your personality type, a four-letter acronym (I'm an XACP), and read Dr. Pepper's advice magazine. That's about it.
When you view someone's profile, besides the usual stats, you also see what personality type he or she is.
When you purchase a premium membership, you receive a "Ten Point Profile Review & Tune-Up by an experienced PerfectMatch Member Services Counselor." When you purchase six months or more at a time, you also get Dr. Pepper's book. Memberships are automatically renewed when they expire, with no other option.
